British prime minister David Cameron has promised a referendum on whether country will stay in the EU, or not.
Intellectuals who believed in the European Union are usually leftists in America and Japan. But European countries have various anti-EU political groups, and they are not always the Right or conservatives.
The idea of the EU is very attractive for some Japanese Leftists, and they associate the EU with the progressive, liberal, equal rights as an European values. At the same time, Japanese liberals have often a romantic image and inferiority complex to an European.
American conservatives often dislike the EU. Because it is a symbol of collectivism and secularism. They have usually very cynical opinions to the EU, and the points in critics are clear.
The EU system is too complicated for me to grasp and asses. Where does the EU go? I have no idea.

Gun Control and Japanese as "Surrender History"
Disputes about gun control in America are so harsh, that I cannot follow the opinions without irritation.
Japanese society has no guns . And most Japanese live everyday without a fear for gun, although some sorts of guns are permitted under police's control.
I have no intention to critic Americans on this issue and have recognized the difference of culture and history between U.S. and Japan
Pro-gun control don't know so much why Japanese has no guns. There had been no guns without hunting harquebus in Japan for long time. Even Samurai hadn't. But at the end of Sengoku Era , BC 16~17 there were many guns in Japan. It is estimated that there were more guns than western countries. Hideyosi' the ruler who united a hole country, confiscated all guns successfully all over Japan. So there was no history of the militant like Europa and U.S.
After WW 2, there remained many weapons in Japan, but all of them were confiscated under U.S.occupation.
Gun control history is equal to be "Surrender History".
Some people in Japan, go to America to enjoy shooting, and come back to Japan, and say " We can't enjoy shooting in Japan, but it would rather be lucky."

France Goes to "War On Terror "
France has started air attack against Islam militants in Mali,Africa. Prime Minister Hollande stated "War On Terror".
My impression on this incident is very ominous. It is a touch of irony for Left Hollande's cabinet to start military action. Depending on BBC News, France expresses surprise at the fighting strengthen of Islamists in Mali.
As for France, I often listen to French pops, but now, "Second War On Terror"has began in France . War may be extending over the world.
